Bird Flu - Are you ready?

In 1918, a  flu pandemic killed more than 20 million people worldwide. Experts now say another pandemic is imminent.

How would Newcastle cope if such an outbreak occurs? Would everyone lock themselves away? What would happen if essential workers like police or water/gas/electricity workers came down with it?

Should we be panicking and stocking up on food and surgical masks?
