What is Jesmondean?

Hi all
Could anyone tell me what Jesmondean is.
On my fathers Death cert it says he was born in Jesmondean, Tyne & wear.
I would be gratefull for your thoughts.

For taking the time to reply, that is so sweet of you. Yes that is a very helpful site, re gov. Brilliant many thanks.
And for the Google, I see what you mean, but there is a Jesmond dene House, maybe that was a hospital in 1917, you never know, thank you very much again.
